At the age of 56 and after more than thirty years in the corporate business world, I decided it was time to take my foot off the accelerator and fulfill my dream of working and travelling around the world. And what better way to do that than become an English teacher? So I enrolled in a CELTA course, and was fortunate to have Shady as my Tutor. Shady is a very witty guy, which made the lecture times funny and interesting, but he has a real gift in guiding and encouraging people in sensitively pointing out their strengths and areas requiring improvement. Shady taught in a way that made things I had never thought of before become glaringly obvious, like a series of bolts dropping, He taught us that the most effective way to teach is to engage with the students. And that’s exactly what he did. He engaged with us. Constantly. So now, six months later, here I am, in the beautiful coastal city of Qingdao, China, teaching English to Chinese high school students in a local public school, and living the dream. Thank you Shady!
