Jacqueline Jordan is a seasoned English Language Teaching (ELT) professional with extensive experience in teacher training, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and business English instruction. Holding British nationality, Jacqueline has cultivated a diverse and impactful career spanning multiple countries and educational contexts. She currently resides at Cluny Farm in Dargle, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
Jacqueline's academic journey began with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, complemented by an Institute of Marketing Diploma, from Leeds Metropolitan University, which she completed in 1988. Her early career was shaped by this strong business foundation, but her passion for teaching led her to further her education in English Language Teaching. She earned her Cert TEFL from the University of Central Lancashire in 1997, followed by the prestigious DELTA qualification from Stanton College, London, in 2004. Recognizing the growing importance of online education, Jacqueline later obtained a Certificate in Online Training from TheConsultants-E in 2012.
Her professional career is a testament to her dedication and versatility in the field of ELT. Jacqueline has worked in various capacities, from English instructor roles to senior teacher trainer positions, in prestigious institutions across the globe. Her early teaching experiences included roles at Bilgi University and Yeditepe University in Turkey, where she honed her skills in teaching academic English and contributing to course development.
In 2003, Jacqueline returned to the UK, where she took on roles at several prominent language schools, including the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and St. Giles in London. Her ability to teach both general and business English to a diverse student body, including international executives, further broadened her expertise.
Jacqueline’s commitment to teacher training began to take center stage in her career in the mid-2000s. She worked as a Teacher Trainer for i-to-i, where she conducted weekend courses, equipping aspiring teachers with fundamental teaching skills and classroom management techniques. Her role as Senior Teacher and Teacher Trainer at Language Link in London and as Co-ordinator at the British Study Centre, Tanaka Business School, Imperial College London, solidified her reputation as a leader in teacher development.
In 2006, Jacqueline transitioned into freelance work as a CELTA trainer, a role she has embraced ever since. Her expertise as a CELTA Assessor, which she has held since 2008, has allowed her to maintain high standards in teacher training across various institutions. Jacqueline has also served as the Head of Teacher Training and Main Course Tutor at the English Academy in Dublin from 2011 to 2013, where she led CELTA courses and provided professional development for teachers.
Jacqueline’s most recent experience includes working with New Oriental in Beijing as a CELTA tutor, both face-to-face and online, from 2019 to 2022. Since January 2022, she has continued her work as a freelance CELTA online tutor, sharing her wealth of knowledge with a new generation of teachers.
